About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Head Rowing Coach to help develop the school’s rowing, as part of the BGS PE Team, with vision and energy promoting and developing its reputation that not only provides sporting excellence for women, but equips all girls with life fitness skills.
The Head Rowing Coach will assist the Director of Rowing in the management of the rowing programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Rowing with the provision of rowing at BGS with a vision that resonates with the school’s strategic plan.
- Support the Director of Rowing in their roles devising, developing and delivering a comprehensive school rowing programme that enables the school to meet its strategic aims.
- Deliver the day to day requirements of coaching to ensure the effective delivery of rowing.
- Assist the Director of Rowing in overseeing pupils’ performance and practice, ensuring high standards are maintained in rowing.
- Assist the Director of Rowing in supporting high performance athletes, managing internal rowing trials and pre-season training.
- Assist in planning and organising fixtures in rowing, coordinating with the Director of Rowing.
- Assist in liaising with boathouse staff to ensure the boathouse, fleet and facilities are fit for purpose.
- Assist the Director of Rowing in ensuring risk assessments are carried out, and support all aspects of rowing health and safety in compliance with British Rowing and The Harpur Trust Rowing procedures.
- Contribute to the positive promotion and reputation of rowing at Bedford Girls’ School in the local and wider community.
What we’re Looking for:
- UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rowing or equivalent experience
- Experience of working in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of watermanship and navigational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude towards children, including promoting positive values, attitudes, and behaviour.
- Excellent oral communication skills, particularly in relation to children and young people.
- Knowledge of child protection and a commitment to safeguarding.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
