Boys’ Housemaster or Housemistress
Belhaven Hill School
Belhaven Hill School is seeking to appoint a Housemaster or Housemistress to oversee all aspects of the running of the Boys’ Boarding House.
Due to the promotion of the present incumbent to a Deputy Headship, Belhaven Hill School is seeking to appoint a Housemaster or Housemistress to oversee all aspects of the running of the Boys’ Boarding House, which accommodates up to 52 full-boarding boys from ages 8-13.
Whilst the successful candidate would be expected to teach a reduced timetable and register with the General Teaching Council, Scotland (GTCS), it is possible that - for the right candidate - this could be a purely pastoral and co-curricular role.
This is an opportunity for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and motivated person to continue the outstanding work which has been instrumental in making Belhaven Hill the top boarding prep school in Scotland.
Belhaven Hill School provides boys and girls aged 7-13 with the best possible prep education. Just 30 miles east of Edinburgh, the school is set in 25 acres of walled grounds and sits directly on the beautiful East Lothian coastline. Belhaven has an enviable academic record, winning 17 awards last year. All pupils and staff also take part in a wide and varied range of extra-curricular activities.
There are currently 124 pupils, of whom two-thirds are full boarders; the school operates as a boarding School first and foremost although there are 40 day pupils too, predominantly at the lower end of the school. Two separate houses, one for the girls and one the boys, provide a warm and caring full-boarding environment, with boarders and staff enjoying an Exeat from Friday lunchtime until Sunday evening every other week.
Application forms (available on the school website) must be completed in full and sent - along with a short, hand-written letter to the Headmaster - to the school bursar, Ms. Margaret Fowler, Belhaven Hill School, Belhaven Road, Dunbar, East Lothian EH42 1NN (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Closing date for applications: Monday 22nd April; interviews will take place in the week commencing Monday 29th April.
