The Headmaster and CEO of Eltham College Family of Schools is seeking to appoint the Head of Co-curricular Drama to deliver the overall strategic vision and planning for the performances in the department.
The post holder will be expected to promote and deliver opportunities for performances, in order that drama should not only be the preserve of those taking the subject as an academic subject but offered to all pupils in the School where talent is shown.
The Head of Co-curricular Drama will plan and organise the annual performance programme of drama for the year and, working in collaboration with the Director of Drama, Teacher of Drama, and the Director in Residence. They will lead at least three-four school productions in conjunction with the Drama team (including at least one musical biennially) and a Partnership Project with a local state school, as well as to support House productions and other student led plays throughout the year. They will also line manage the LAMDA Team.
Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools. The College has grown considerably over recent years: there are now over 800 students in the Senior School and around 260 pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed. Since 2020, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years. The school places an equal emphasis on academic, pastoral and co-curricular excellence and has an outstanding reputation in all three areas as well as for the friendly, unpretentious nature of daily life.
