Health and Safety Manager

Summary

We are currently seeking to fill the position of Health and Safety Manager.

This is a permanent part-time, non-term time role, working 25 hours per week Monday to Friday (8 am to 2 pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break), but it is essential that there is flexibility to attend meetings later in the day, along with occasional weekend and evening working as required, including the attending of specific events, etc., most notably perhaps Founder’s Day and Open Days. 

 

Annual Salary:         circa £30,000 to £35,000, dependent on experience (FTE equivalent circa £45,000-55,000).

An opportunity has arisen for a proactive and motivated individual with the requisite skills to join Fettes College as Health and Safety Manager, a role which combines responsibility for Health and Safety across the group and a critical coordination role on all new facilities development projects. 

Reporting to the Bursar, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of workplace health and safety while assisting in the planning and execution of key development projects. This role is to ensure compliance with safety regulations, promote a safety culture and assist with the successful delivery of projects on time and on budget.

Person Specification

 

  • You will hold a professional qualification in Health & Safety management.
    1. (NEBOSH certificate or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in a Health and Safety role within a similar working environment.
  • You will be a team player with a positive approach to work and a can-do attitude who sees Health and Safety legislation as an opportunity to do things better and not an obstacle.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise work effectively.
  • Ability to work independently but also to communicate effectively at all levels and positively engage employees.
  • Motivated and can take the initiative to manage tasks.
  • Numerate and IT literate.
