As a Groundsperson you will be an integral member of the Grounds and Gardening Team helping to maintain our impressive 140 acre campus
Detail
The main duties and responsibilities of the jobholder include, but are not limited to:
- Working as part of the Grounds and Gardens department to help maintain our busy campus that consists of formal gardens and lawns along with prestigious sport facilities and the rest of the external estate. This will involve various tasks such as sports turf preparation, garden maintenance, external estate maintenance, tractor driving, mowing, hedge cutting, strimming and weeding along with a variety of other tasks to help maintain a pristine and functional campus.
- Keeping the gardens, thoroughfares, and highway footpaths clear and free from litter and debris at all times.
- Safe use and routine maintenance of all powered mechanical equipment, vehicles, and tractor operated machinery necessary for the job, this also includes hand tools and marking equipment.
- Carrying out gritting, salt spreading, snow clearing, as necessary, including footpaths and car parks throughout the school
- If required, assisting the gardening staff as necessary with routine gardening duties including preparation, planting, seeding, turfing and maintenance of gardens, amenity areas, trees, shrubs, lawns and grass areas as well as pruning and hedge cutting.
- Assisting the other members of the support staff to prepare outdoor areas for events and functions.
All duties are to comply with current legislation governing Health and Safety at work and the control of Substances Hazardous to Health and relevant codes of practice.
Requirements:
- Full UK driving license.
- Level 2 horticulture/Sports turf qualification/at least 5 years experience in the horticultural industry.
- Experience in use of tractors, ride on mowers, hedge cutters, tractor implements, mowers, strimmers and rollers.
- Ability to work dynamically in a team and alone if required.
Working hours: 8:00am-16:30pm, with an hour unpaid for lunch.
Salary: The starting salary is dependent upon qualifications, experience, and the skills and knowledge of the successful candidate. Salaries are reviewed annually.
Annual Leave: 35 days (inclusive of Bank Holidays and 2 days given over the Christmas period).
