About this Role

We are seeking a Resident Graduate Theatre Technician to join our theatre department. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent school or college leaver with a strong interest in technical theatre who is looking to develop their skills within a supportive and creative environment.

This is a training-focused, residential role, offering hands-on experience across all aspects of technical theatre while contributing to a busy and high-quality programme of Drama, Dance and Music productions. This role is initially offered on a fixed-term basis for one academic year, with scope for it to be extended.

Working at Hurst

Hurst is one of Britain’s leading independent schools, offering a vibrant and supportive environment for both pupils and staff. With almost 1,300 pupils across our Senior and Prep Schools, we combine academic ambition with a strong sense of community and a rich co-curricular programme. With Pennthorpe School newly joining the Hurst family, it is an exciting time to be part of the team.

Hurst is a place of genuine momentum. From the classroom to the sports field, the theatre to the boarding house, life here is rich, varied and rewarding. The College has invested significantly in its Performing Arts facilities, including a professionally specified theatre seating up to 331 and supporting large-scale productions within a thriving department of Drama, Dance and Music.

We are a community that pursues excellence not as a destination, but as a daily habit. Those who thrive here bring the same enthusiasm, commitment and energy that we encourage in our pupils.

Set in a beautiful rural location, the College remains well connected, just 20 minutes from Brighton & Hove and under an hour from London by train.
