“ The main aspect that drew me to Teach Hurst over a regular PGCE route was the way in which I was able to work in the classroom straight away. This may seem quite daunting but I was supported by my mentor, Head of Department, Director of Professional Development and Performance and a large group of like-minded individuals who were also beginning their training. ”
Mr Nick Chadwell, Housemaster and Business Studies Teacher
In essence, the programme consists of:
Year 1: Building classroom experience, knowledge and pedagogy through observation and class teaching on a reduced timetable.
Year 2: A fully funded, in-school, PGCE course provided by Buckingham University. Increased teaching load and further responsibility.
On completion of Year 2 you will gain QTS (qualified teacher status) and progress onto the Early Teacher Career Framework and the Hurst qualified teacher scale with reflective salary increase. Throughout the ECT period you will continue to be mentored and given the opportunity to take on roles of responsibility and leadership across the college.
Teach Hurst is a highly desirable teacher training programme and we receive a large number of applicants each year. If you are excited by this opportunity we advise you to apply as soon as possible.
Applications will be considered as they are received, and the recruitment process will close once outstanding candidates are identified.
Please apply through this link to be considered.
Hurstpierpoint College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service
