Our pioneering ‘Teach Hurst’ Teacher Training programme is fully-funded and includes sponsorship of PGCE and Early Career Teachers (ECT) training, a competitive starting salary, increasing regularly as you progress through the programme. Plus free on-site accommodation, free meals during term time and access to a wide range of on-site sport, gym and leisure facilities.
We are looking for well-qualified graduates/undergraduates in Maths related subjects, to become part of our 2023 programme, commencing September.
One key to our success as a school is excellent staff and Hurst College has always made a point of recruiting and training individuals who have the potential to become outstanding teachers. We value all our teachers and whether you join us straight from university, or after an initial career in another area of work, we believe every teacher’s experience and background are important. Most of all we are interested in candidates with enthusiasm and the drive to become brilliant teachers.
Our programme consists of:
Year 1 Building classroom experience, knowledge and pedagogy through observation and class teaching on a reduced timetable
Year 2 A fully funded, in-school, PGCE course provided by Sussex University. Increased teaching load and further responsibility
Year 3 Early Career Teacher (ECT), greater autonomy, 10% reduction in teaching load
Year 4 Early Career Teacher (ECT), 5% reduction in teaching load
Throughout this time we offer close and supportive mentorship and a CPD programme.
