Mayfield Preparatory School is a highly successful, academic selective Independent School (IAPS) with over 180 boys and girls, aged 2 - 11 years. The School is located on the same site as Queen Mary’s Grammar School, a short commute from Sutton Coldfield. Mayfield is set on extensive grounds with spacious facilities, including a new large, well-equipped sports hall and modern, purpose-built library. Other features include a newly-refurbished ICT Suite, with iPads also available for all pupils, and specialist teaching rooms for Maths, Science, Art, Design Technology and Music. The School benefits from small classes, excellent behaviour, and a happy, family atmosphere. This year, 96% of Year 6 pupils were offered Grammar School places, 100% were offered selective school places and 10 scholarships were awarded at leading Independent Schools.

We seek an appropriately qualified, vibrant, enthusiastic, nurturing teacher, initially to work in Year 1, and with the possibility for future development in other key stages across the school. The successful candidate will need to be a confident classroom practitioner and a caring professional with high expectations of pupil attainment, willing to go the extra mile and able to form excellent relationships with parents, pupils and colleagues. The post holder will be a Form Teacher and expected to teach all subjects across the curriculum to a high standard, and you will be given the freedom to be inspirational with your own ideas. The post holder will be expected to plan and prepare schemes of work and lead a small team of staff in delivering engaging activities to the children, following the curriculum and extending and challenging the children’s learning beyond age expectations. It is also expected to record and report pupils’ progress to parents in line with the school’s assessment procedures. Experience of teaching Read Write Inc. Phonics and White Rose Maths would be advantageous.
