Detail

Riddlesworth is home to a number of international students, who are looking to improve their English and take part in British school life. The role entails teaching English to International students aged 11-16 and ranging from A1-B2, in addition to supporting them in their other subjects. The position is for a full-time teacher of English as a foreign language.


What we are looking for:


A highly-motivated and passionate individual, with post-qualification experience in teaching English as a foreign language to young learners. This individual will be employed on a full-time basis, working in accordance to the academic school year.


Additional responsibilities beyond teaching, in areas such as sports and after-school clubs.


Essential:


● A recognised EFL teaching qualification (CELTA or equivalent).


● A minimum of 1 year continuous teaching experience.


● Experience working with Young Learners (10-16).


● Non-native candidates will need to provide evidence of C1 level. (IELTS, CAE, CPE).


Desirable:


● Experience of working in a school environment.


● Experience of working with young learners from China.


● Basic Mandarin.


Main Duties:


● Teaching General English to Young Learners to an excellent standard.


● Teaching CLIL and topic-based lessons.


● Teaching aspects of British Culture.


● Setting and marking EFL entrance assessments.


● Planning informative and engaging lessons.


● Setting and correcting homework.


● Displaying the ability to motivate and enthuse pupils.


● Writing reports on individual students.


● Overseeing the general welfare of the students.


● Creating an English-only environment in the classroom and around the school.


● Ensuring all students’ academic needs are met and their progression is monitored through unit and progression tests.


● Able to incorporate ICT into lessons or willingness to develop.


● Awareness of safeguarding and pastoral issues.


● Be able to undertake duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Headmaster.


● Setting a good example to pupils by appropriate dress, punctuality and conduct.


● Have excellent oral and written communication skills.


● Have an in-depth knowledge of the English language and how to convey it to non-native speakers.


● Be flexible and adaptable.


The rate of pay


● The rate of pay is dependent on experience.
