Head of RE and Class Teacher
- Location: North West London
- School: Saint Christina's School
- Salary: Saint Christina’s Salary Scale
- Type: Full-time
Summary
We are looking to appoint a Key Stage 1 or 2 Class Teacher who will also take on the role of Head of RE.
Detail
Saint Christina’s is a school where people know one another well. Children are known as individuals, and there is a genuine sense of care in the way colleagues work together. Since moving to full co-education, we have been building something thoughtful and ambitious, where children are engaged in their learning and enjoy coming to school each day.
We are looking for someone who will enjoy being part of that. Someone who values strong relationships, brings energy to the classroom, and wants to contribute to the wider life of the school.
The successful candidate will be a strong classroom teacher with high expectations and a clear understanding of how children learn. You will be joining a busy London prep school, so being organised and consistent matters, but so does the ability to connect with children and their families and to create a classroom where pupils feel secure and ready to learn.
As Head of RE, you will take on a subject that sits at the heart of the school. You will support colleagues, help shape the direction of RE, and ensure that it continues to be taught with care and purpose. The CCRS is not required, but you will need to understand the importance of RE within a Catholic school. We would also be pleased to support someone who, in time, would like to train as a CSI inspector.
Saint Christina’s is a school of around 170 pupils, with plans to grow. We are based in St John’s Wood, next to Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park. It is a friendly and purposeful place to work, where colleagues support one another and take pride in what they do.
This role will suit someone who is emotionally intelligent, reliable, and brings good judgement in the way they work with children and colleagues.
Saint Christina’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to complete child protection checks appropriate to the role. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
Catholic ethos requirement
This post is designated as a reserved post in accordance with the provisions of the Bishops’ Memorandum on the Appointment of Teachers in Catholic Schools. The successful candidate must be a practising Catholic, able to provide a reference from their parish priest, and willing to actively support and promote the Catholic ethos and mission of the School.

The School reserves the right to appoint at any stage of the recruitment process and may close the vacancy early if a suitable candidate is identified.
