St Catherine's School seeks to appoint an enthusiastic, committed, knowledgeable and well qualified Teacher of English to join our thriving English Department. The precise teaching timetable will be thoughtfully structured to reflect the strengths, interests, and expertise of the successful candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious educator who is eager to contribute to the academic and wider life of the school. The role has the potential to be full-time for the right candidate if he/she is able to offer a second subject.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to:
Teaching & Learning
- Maintain a strong and consistent focus on safeguarding pupils, keeping fully up to date with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
- Plan, set, and mark regular written and oral work, both in class and for preparation.
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records of pupils’ attainment and progress, monitoring performance and taking appropriate action when necessary, in consultation with the Head of Department.
- Ensure all marking meets departmental standards and aligns with the School Marking Policy.
- Participate fully in departmental activities, including meetings, exam preparation, moderation, and assessment.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and co-curricular events beyond the school day, such as lectures or enrichment activities, as required by the Head of Department.
- Play an active role in the school’s wider extra-curricular programme, drawing on the teacher’s own interests and skills.
- Attend all required school events and duties, including staff meetings, parents’ evenings, and prep duties, as directed by the Head.
- Adhere to all school-wide and departmental policies and expectations.
