At Surbiton High Boys’ Preparatory School, we believe that the early years lay the foundations for a lifetime of learning. We are seeking an outstanding and inspirational Early Years (EYFS) Teacher and Lead to join our thriving School from January 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced early years practitioner and leader to shape and develop our EYFS provision, ensuring every child benefits from an ambitious, nurturing and enriching start to their educational journey. Working closely with the Head of the Boys’ Preparatory School and Senior Leadership Team, you will drive excellence in teaching and learning, lead colleagues within the EYFS, and play a key role in delivering the School’s strategic vision.

What you'll be doing
- Providing strategic and operational leadership for the EYFS, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.
- Developing and implementing innovative teaching and learning initiatives that enhance progress, attainment and personal development for all pupils.
- Leading the planning, monitoring and evaluation of EYFS provision, ensuring a broad, engaging and memorable curriculum.
- Taking responsibility for the assessment of the Early Learning Goals, working closely with the Head of the Boys’ Preparatory School.
- Analysing pupil data and implementing effective action plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Leading and supporting the induction, mentoring and professional development of EYFS colleagues.
- Modelling outstanding teaching practice through full-time class teaching within the EYFS.
- Building strong partnerships with parents, ensuring effective communication regarding pupil achievement, wellbeing and development.
- Representing the School at local EYFS networks, cluster groups and professional forums, ensuring best practice and compliance with local and national expectations.
- Supporting pupil and staff recruitment activities, School events, marketing initiatives and wider community engagement.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across United Learning and beyond to share expertise and develop best practice.
What you'll bring:
- Significant experience of teaching within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- The ability to inspire, support and develop colleagues through effective leadership.
- Experience of monitoring pupil progress and using assessment data to improve outcomes.
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- A collaborative and reflective approach, with high expectations for both pupils and staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, equality of opportunity and pupil wellbeing.
- A strong understanding of outstanding EYFS pedagogy and current educational developments.
