The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the historic heart of Portsmouth. We are very much a family school known for excellent teaching, superb pastoral care and wide-ranging co-curricular opportunities and offer an education across the age range from Pre-School to Sixth Form.
The School Archivist reports to the Development Director and is responsible for all tasks required to ensure the smooth running of the PGS school archive. The post holder will ensure the operation and development of the school archives with responsibility for the acquisition, organisation, dissemination, protection and exploitation of resources appropriate to the school community, alumni, donors, former and current pupils and staff.
Within the Development Office team, the School Archivist responds to enquiries relating to the school’s history and archive holdings from members of staff, alumni and external researchers.
The School Archivist supports and enhances the wider life of the school and the richness of the curriculum and co-curriculum by promoting and enabling meaningful engagement with the archives by current pupils and staff.
The post is a part time, term time only role for 2 days per week (15hrs), to be worked flexibly.

The closing date for receipt of applications is midday on 2nd October 2025 and interviews will be scheduled to take place on the school site in the week commencing 6th October with a provisional interview date of 9th October 2025.
