The Head of English is a key part of the departmental leadership team: some of the most important roles in the school. It is vital that students are receiving the very best in passionate and inspired pedagogy, and departmental leaders play a central role in ensuring this is the case: from curriculum overview and design to teaching and learning within their subject area.
Heads of Department are exemplary teachers who hold responsibility for all aspects of the delivery of their subject across the curriculum and co-curriculum. This includes subject specific clubs and trips, core curriculum content and extension beyond the confines of the syllabus. They are champions for their teaching teams and they also play a key role in accountability, ensuring consistent excellence for learners at all stages of the College.
English is part of the Understanding the World faculty. The Head of English has a vital role in supporting all students to excel to the best of their abilities from Lower Fourth (Year 7) to Upper Sixth (Year 13).
• Start date: January 2026
• Competitive Salary & Benefits Package: Dependent on skills and experience
• Contract: Maternity Cover, Full Time
• Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Location: Thomas’s College, Richmond
